For 7 years, Ashroi has provided shelter and care for homeless individuals with mental illness in Majdia, Nalbari district. With professional support and donations, they integrate individuals post-treatment, aiming to improve lives. In two separate markets, residents of the halfway homes are cultivating self-dependency through planting and selling saplings. With community support, their endeavor strives for success.

Vermi-composting is a valuable skill learned by the inmates of the halfway home. They transform organic waste into nutrient-rich manure, which is used in their garden. Expanding this initiative boosts compost production, enhancing the garden's productivity and promoting sustainability.
Two students from The Assam Kaziranga University, Jorhat, Satyamjeet Barooah and Vishal Kumar Singh, completed one month of fieldwork at ASHROI NGO, Nalbari, as part of their 3rd semester in the MSW program. They participated in various events and gained valuable knowledge relevant to their studies.
Marmi Das and her son Rahul were rescued from homelessness by Ashray, an NGO in Nalbari. With support from Ashray's Half Way Home, Marmi received treatment and her son enrolled in school. Today, Marmi runs a shop selling flower seedlings and tea, showcasing her transformation from despair to self-reliance. Ashray continues its mission to empower the homeless and mentally ill, creating success stories like Marmi's.
The pain of being. separated from her family and the joy of reuniting with her loved ones- both of which are narrated in the language.
